26-365 Azalea by Lensbaby

There aren't any azalea's in bloom right now so how in the world could I have been sooooo darn lucky to get a cool abstract azalea picture for my 365 Project photo of today?  Cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater. :)

Yep.  I pulled this one out of my archives.  I was actually just going through last years pictures around this time of the year as I looked for something to enter into a photo contest that I'm hoping to participate in and I forgot I had taken this one.  I really like it so I wanted to post it.  Yes Vic, it appears I am making up my rules as I go.  ;-)  This picture was taken last spring in April in downtown Swansboro in front of one of the older homes that had a huge row of bountiful Azalea bushes lining the retaining wall in front of their house.  I'm not a huge azalea fan but since I had my Lensbaby 2.0 on with the Star filter from my Creative Aperture Kit on it, I experimented around with the pretty in pink flowers.  I really like the abstract of this shot and if you look closely, you'll see the faint stars in the photograph from the star aperture.

My settings for this shot were 1/200 sec, Aperture (does not register when a Lensbaby is mounted as focus range is controlled by the bellows type accordian barrel), ISO 100, WB cloudy, Flash not fired, focal length (not registered with a Lensbaby mounted on camera).

25-365 On Demand

This is a completely lazy photo but after an 8 hour day installing a new front door, lock sets for it and a new storm door, I'm whooped.  I feel much safer though now than I did with the door we had that only had one little door knob with a simple turn lock.  I could have broken into that myself!  :-)

So...obviously, this is my remote control.  I call the picture "on demand".  How unique, huh?  Oh well, I had to post something and this is what my followers get.  I liked it in B&W better than in color.

The settings are as follows: 1/4 sec, F4, ISO 400, On board flash, WB auto, Focal length 60mm.

24/365 Pelletier House

This photo project is really making me go to different places and see things I wouldn't think twice about if I wasn't making myself take a photo a day.

This morning I had to run to downtown Jacksonville this morning and when we were walking to the car, I saw this house that I knew was here but never took the time to stop by.  I read the little placard in front of it and learned that it is the oldest and only remaining "antebellum" home in the city of Jacksonville.  I searched antebellum architecture and found that the word "is a term used to describe the characteristic neoclassical architectural style of the Southern United States, especially the Old South, from after the birth of the United States in the American Revolution, to the start of the American Civil War.  Antebellum architecture is especially characterized by neoclassical and Greek revival style plantation houses and mansions." (ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antebellum_architecture).  This house in particular was said to have had two rooms in it, the front serving the business side and the back serving the living quarters.  It's a super small house.  It was locked and we couldn't get in but as we walked over towards the river side of the house, there was one of the historians/volunteers there that told us about the "spring" that he was tending to and a little more about the house and the area from the 1800s when it was active.  I expressed my thanks to him for sharing so much of his knowledge with us because I had not expected it at all.

The picture I took with my cell phone and unless I was going to get out in the middle of the street, I wasn't able to fit the whole "little house" in the frame so I took a picture of the "business side" entry door.  I also added a cross process action to it to make it feel "old" again.  I really like the final product too.  :)

23/365 Daisy

I'm about 47 minutes from my 24th of 365 pictures being due!  I sure did push this one late.

My awesomely awesome mommy sent me the most beautiful flowers today after a quite successful day yesterday.  She totally surprised me!  The arrangement has 5 different kinds of tropical plants in them which is great because I LOVE plants.  And in front of the plants that are sort of used as a backdrop for the flowers, there are pink roses, darker pink carnations and then the little tiny little flowers that aren't baby's breath but very cute!  And also there are daisies in the mix.  They are one of the prettiest flowers to me and remind me so much for spring for some reason.  I shot 64 pictures today of the various flowers.  The one below is my favorite!

Thank you mom!  Here is one of your flowers, recorded forever!  It'll never die!  :-)

Settings were 1/30 sec, F5.6, ISO 40, WB Manual 5200k, Focal length 60mm.

22/365 Under The Bridge

I took this shot today under Old Bridge Street bridge.  I didn't even realize you could get under this bridge.  I saw the reflections from the water on the pilings and underside of the bridge and I thought it looked so pretty.  The image doesn't do it justice though.  If I had had more time and my Nikon with me, I might have spent some time here.  I may go back because I think there are other photo opportunities here.  Of course with my cell phone, the settings aren't adjustable except white balance.  I think mine must still be set on fluorescent or something because of the blue tones but I liked it for this picture.

21/365 Pine Branch

So I've been home sick as a dog all day long.  I've not thought once about my project today until my friend Vic shot me an email reminding me.  Since I don't feel like taking a picture for today, I'm breaking my own rule and pulling from the archives.  I don't even really know what the rules are for this project except to blog a photo a day.  Not sure if that means I have to actually take one every day or just post one.  I prefer to actually take a picture the day of but since I'm still trying to feel better, I'm cheating tonight.  I do take more than one picture most days so you guys don't get to see ALL of them.  Once in a while, an archive might be neat to do anyway.  Maybe I'll even pull out some "oops" shots occasionally so you can see that I do take plenty of bad pictures too.  :-)

This was taken the same day I took my 8th picture.  I was running around the backyard chasing my dog and trying to get a good picture of him and while I waited for him to settle down, I snapped a couple of the end of this pine branch.  When I was deciding on my eighth day whether I was going to post one of these or the one I actually posted of Ryleigh, this one quickly went back into the archives.  Tonight when I went back through some of my unused pictures, this one caught my eye.  I really like the texture in this so....it becomes my picture of the day.

The settings were 1/60 sec, F3.2 aperture, ISO 320, WB Cloudy and focal length 60mm.

20/365 Mini Pearls

Yep.  Another macro.  That lens is so cool.  I forgot that I challenged myself to use my 20mm wide angle for a few photos the other day.  Oops.  :)  I did take some pictures of my sons practice bells with my 20mm tonight but I wasn't pleased with any of them.

I am realllly running out of ideas as the days come and go.  I have 340 days left to go and I would really love some ideas.  Too bad I only have 3 followers.  Surely I can't put it all on them to give me suggestions and ideas, right?  (Those of you who are not publicly following yet...all you have to do is create a quick gmail account to post...shoot me an email or something if you think of anything).

So tonight...you get another macro of some miniature pearls that I saw in my scrapbook embellishments drawer...that I applied a midnight sepia action in Photoshop.  Settings are 1/4 sec, F5.6, ISO 400, WB Incandescent, Focal Length, 60mm.

Bring on the ideas folks.  I need them.  I have a LONNNNNNGGGGGG way to go.  :)

19/365 Bananas & Cantelope

I almost forgot to post this.  It's pretty self explanatory.  I had issues with which white balance to chose on my phone as I am able to change that but this works I think for the subject though slightly boring.  I honestly didn't put much thought into this one.  I'll try better tomorrow night.  :)

18/365 Aluminum Foil

I wonder how quick I'm going to make people sick of macro shots?  When I'm at home and remember I need to take a picture, I always tend to reach for that lens.  Maybe because it's easy to know the possibilities are endless.  I think next time and for a couple of days in a row, maybe I'll try to increase my challenge of this project by making myself use my 20mm wide angle.  It gets challenging enough to just come up with an idea for the shot of the day so actually using that lens and being happy with what I come up with on my own may or may not happen.

I started off taking pictures of the carnations I still have from Valentines Day that are surprisingly still alive.  Then I tried a couple of close ups of the condensation that was building up on my crock pot lid.  Then I thought, maybe I could get some blue drops of Windex on aluminum foil that would look neat.  None of those ideas were working for me.  So, I balled up the foil and stuck it under the light and shot 2 takes of it.  One of them the perspective was too weird.  The other one I was happy with.  Taken with my Nikon D200, the settings are as follows:  Shutter Speed: 1/15sec Aperture: F4.6, WB: Cloudy, Focal Length: 60mm.

17/365 Blue Guitar (Light Painting)

The photo club I joined had a meet up tonight to do light painting planned.  So I wanted to test out what I thought the procedure was before I left so I could get my settings like I wanted them and understand better how the light recorded on the digital image sensor at long exposures.  I tried my bulb setting and had thought that I would be able to put it on the timer and it would open the shutter for me.  BUT..it doesn't work like that.  I just now...as I was typing this...realized why.  How do you close it if you open it up with the timer?  I would still have to touch the shutter release button to get it to close.  So...I ordered a shutter release cable for next time.  Anyway...my teenager plays guitar and we got him a beautiful electric blue electric this past Christmas so I pulled it out and used my blue cover over my small flashlight.  Post processing was basic levels and curves and then I created a B&W layer underneath the color version and just masked over the color around the guitar so the B&W would shine through.

I can't seem to find my exif reader program to get the settings quickly so I'm just posting it.  Plus I'm so darn sleepy so I'm going to bed!

16/365 Supply Closet

Bet you guys thought I'd forget to post my picture today, huh?  It is sort of late for me but my dad and step mom came into town and as soon as I got off work I came home to try to make the homestead a little more presentable and then visited with them when they got here.  Then we unloaded furniture and when my hubby got home we went and had a nice dinner at Riverside.

I took this picture in our supply closet at work because it was so darn neat and organized.  I thought it looked neat.  I opened it in Photoshop and after basic levels and curves adjustments, I wasn't pleased with the softness of the focus.  So...I applied the midnight sepia action to it and really enjoy the outcome!  This was taken with my cell phone so the settings are the same as all previous cell phone pictures.

Tomorrow night...LIGHT PAINTING with Onslow Photographers Group!

15a & 15b/365 Rose & Baby's Breath

I have two images again today which sort of kills the rules of one image a day but they are related because the baby's breath was in with the roses...so it's okay, right?!? :) I guess I can't get enough of my macro lens and flowers are incredibly fun to take photos of. My Valentines roses are beginning to wither and die so I thought I'd try a close up as I have always wanted to do with a rose. I've seen some beautiful images of roses shot very close. Some realistic and some abstract. Between the roses and the baby's breath I took 40 shots total. I really enjoy this rose shot but I'm not too keen on the final color. I should have used a custom white balance on this one so I could get the true rich deep and velvety red that the flower actually was. I used my tripod and shot this in front of my sliding glass door with natural light with my white balance set on fluorescent (dumb move...didn't realize it at the time) which is contributing to the more fuchsia color that the flower appears to have in it's highlights. I don't believe it is really what my eye truly saw. Aside from the color, I'm really pleased with the clarity and composure of this shot. My settings from shooting with my Nikon D200 are as follows. Shutter speed: 1/25 sec, Aperture: F8, ISO 400, WB: Fluorescent, Focal Length: 60mm.

Baby's Breath I spent a little longer on because I wanted to use something I read in the Bryan Peterson book called Understanding Close Up Photography that my friend Chrystal gave me for my birthday. One of the sections talks about how he had placed a colorful object in the background to make the subject stand out. I had the hot pink card envelope that came with my flowers that I tried first. I didn't like that at all. So, I put a playing card that had a red and white diamond pattern on it that I knew would look more like a pinkish color with my macro blurring it. It came out too washed out. Yellow and white always looks so "springtime" to me like in daisies so I got a piece of yellow notebook paper and shot a bunch of shots on different white balances and composure's until I got this one. I love the white balance and the soft blurry spots of white randomly in the background with the one white Baby's Breath blossom dominating the image. My settings are as follows: Shutter speed: 1/15sec, Aperture: F4, ISO 100, WB: Cloudy, Focal Length: 60mm.

14/365 Carnations

So I can't believe it.  I'm still going on this 365 Project blog thing.  I almost forgot today.  It's been a very busy evening and I remembered as I looked at the moon as I crossed over the Queens Creek bridge that I hadn't taken a picture of the day.  The moon looked really pretty but I knew I wasn't going to be able to spend the time I wanted to, to be able to capture a nice photo of it...though it sure did look pretty with the soft illuminated clouds around it.

I came in and saw the two beautiful carnations that we had in a vase from Valentines day so I figured I'd take a picture of those in order to preserve them digitally.  The orangish pinkish one is my oldest sons whose best friend (who I am really glad he has because they seem to be very close as friends go which is good for him) gave him where as the white one is one that my little one surprised me with when I got home from work that day.  He had bought it at his school from their Valentines Carnations for a dollar program that they do each year.  It was one of the sweetest things ever!  So, with my cell phone, I snapped this picture of these beautiful flowers.  Of course my cell phone is convenient so I took it with that and the settings remain the same as all others taken with my cell.

13/365 Cake Boss Cake

My friend Wynne is from New Jersey and she went up there this past weekend to pick up her daughter to move her back home.  She decided to go to Carlos' Bakery in Hoboken.  For fellow fans, this place contains the well known super cake baker king, The Cake Boss!  I LOVE this show and I hope to go see his shop and maybe even meet him one day.  You can check out my website for pictures of my own cakes under the "Art" gallery.  I started teaching myself how to decorate cakes with fondant after I quit smoking and love it.  Wynne was so sweet to share her cake with us and I was quite surprised by the taste of it.  After being a huge fan of the show and thinking, man I bet his cakes melt in your mouth...I wasn't totally impressed.  To be honest, I think my recipe that I use (I have one chocolate and one vanilla) could maybe even be chosen a winner in a taste testing contest.  Granted mine DOES call for one box of cake mix, taste is whats important right?!?!  I consider my recipe a "semi" (by a very small amount) homemade.  You still have to use all of your traditional cake ingredients so it's still really homemade to me.  It also has a package of pudding mix which I really think aids in the moist outcome of the cakes.

Anyway...I took a picture of this and even though I wasn't knocked over by the taste of it like I thought I would be, I still LOVE the Cake Boss...and will still go to his store one day and probably spend $115 or more on cake like my friend Wynne did!  LOL!

Taken with my cell phone and as always, the settings are always the same for those pictures.

12/365 Valentine Flowers

I was quite surprised to receive roses today at work from my sweet hubby.  He usually doesn't do that kind of stuff anymore and tends to wait until the last minute for days that occur the same time every year.  LOL!  A co-worker...a male of course...asked if he could buy them from me!  I said "you didn't leave your wife something this morning?!?!"  He said "no".  I was like boy you are BAD!  Even though I think this day is a little too commercialized and I believe that surprises like this should happen throughout the year and that people should show love to one another all year long it was nice to receive these today.

So, in light of this Valentines Day, I figured I'd capture the rare opportunity permanently in my photo of the day.

11/365 Eclipse Robert Frost

For those who are fans of a particular vampire series, you know exactly where this comes from.  :) Not too challenging in terms of "photography" but I've been super busy today and figured that it would be better to do something not as challenging as it would be to not do a photo for today.  Taken with cell phone so settings are the same as all other cell phone pictures and edited in Photoshop.

10/365 Intracoastal Waterway

My husband and I went to visit an art gallery show in Morehead City tonight that featured a photographer and her photos of Italy.  I enjoyed meeting her and talking to Lynn the owner and I can't wait to get some of my work into her gallery.  She's on Facebook (Blu Sail Gallery) so check her out when you have a minute.  I also got to see my old boss and co-worker which was great!  You make relationships with people you work with for so long and I have so many great memories of working there that I was so happy to see them!  (They might also be reading this so I have to post something good! *insert wink to Mr. B & Will*)

On our way to the gallery, I asked my husband to pull down a road that I used to turn down to go to Burnette Architecture (check out their site) each morning of work because for some reason, the view down at the end of this road has always been one of my most favorites.  I had taken one of my first silhouette shots here when I worked for Burnette of a lone Palm tree with a beautiful sunset behind it.  I forgot how pretty Morehead City was as we continued on our drive to the gallery.

So...my picture.  Not digging it but I have to post something today to keep from messing up my project.  The colors of the sky were very pretty in this shot but the foreground was toned badly to me so I thought the only thing I was going to be able to do with this one was to convert it to black and white.  It was with my cell phone so my settings are always the same as the previous photos I've posted from my cell phone.  Thank goodness for HTC Evo's thought process in developing a phone with an 8MP camera in it!  :-)

9/365 Frost

My car was covered with frost this morning.  Not just the windows but the whole darn thing.  It looked white instead of the gold color it is when it's not frozen like a popsicle.  While I was sitting in it waiting for the windows to defrost, I saw how it was sort of cracking up as it melted and was sliding down the window.  Because there is a streetlight across the street and it was dark in front of my car because I didn't have my headlights on where they would reflect back from the garage door, it looked like a gradient sort of....being brighter on the top left and darker on the bottom right.  This was with my cell phone so settings are as usual.

8/365 Ryleigh

I have always wanted a lab and when we were given the opportunity to get one I was so super excited.  He was the most adorable puppy I had ever seen and I had never had a dog from newborn.  He's 19 months old now and all boy and all puppy...STILL!  :)  I didn't know when we got him that Lab's tend to stay "puppy" for about 3 years before they start to mellow and settle down.  Sometimes, he drives us nuts because he rarely lays down and "chills out" and he always thinks it's playtime.  BUT...he's awesome and I couldn't be more glad that we got him.  He fits perfectly in our family.  (The idea that they are perfect "family" dogs IS accurate!)  One of the best qualities of him is that he is so super photogenic.  If and when I can catch him still long enough to get good focus on him, his photos have turned out beautifully.  So...tonight, I went out in the back yard with my Nikon to see what I could see and after trying a few shots of him running around, he finally stopped by a pile of brush to look towards a sound I guess he heard.  I snapped this shot off pretty quick so it's not "tack" sharp but I really love the picture.  This lens I only recently purchased makes me smile every time.  The drop off in focus is beautiful to me and make shots of things like this stand out so much better than my old lenses.  I think I might even commit to some portrait work as I get more used to it because of this.

My settings were, ISO 320 (still haven't changed that darn thing back to 100 because I keep forgetting), 1/60 sec & F2.8 with white balance set to cloudy because I like the warm tones from it much better than some of the other options.

7/365 Bright Sprite

I am so sleepy that I just did a quick shot & used Photoshop in my phone to funk it up. Nothing fancy. Just a six pack of Sprite cans where I increased saturation & contrast & cropped it tight. Not too good but oh well.  I'll make up for it tomorrow. :)

6/365 B&W Football

Today after lunch I quickly remembered I had not shot my photo of the day yet.  So I grabbed a quick shot with my cell phone of a white picket fence from a side angle but wasn't pleased with it when I opened it in Photoshop.  I also snapped an odd angled perspective shot of the sale bins in Food Lion and though the colors were great, I just wasn't feeling it.  When I got home and after I ate dinner and did some other things I had been neglecting, I grabbed my Nikon and started walking around the house with my 60mm Micro Nikkor.  I tried some drink coasters that we got when we were in the Dominican Republic...not feeling it.  Then tried some colorful rocks we have in a decorative dish...not feeling that either.  Then I went to my sons room and tried some stuff with his guitar neck.  Feeling that a little more but still not too happy with my pictures.

Finally, I saw my youngest sons beat up worn out football!  DING DING DING!  We have a winner!  I have seen some great shots of beat up worn out footballs.  I'm actually surprised I haven't photographed one before and some who know me and know how much I love football and how involved I am in our local Association and League may have wondered the same thing before.  LOL!

I felt that the B&W conversion did it much more justice than the colored one.  Since I took it with my DSLR, I can give you settings this time.  ISO is still set on 320...only because I keep forgetting to put it back on 100...which I prefer.  The focus length was of course 60mm as I used my fixed lens. (Love that thing...thanks Vic for all the feedback when I was deciding on which lens to get!)  The shutter speed was 1/30 seconds and the aperture value was wide as I could get it in the light I had at F3.2.  It was hand held and since I fired the flash off the ceiling to try to top light it more (successfully I think) it gave me the sharpness I wanted, where I wanted it.  I am super pleased with this photo.  It may be my favorite so far out of the 6 photos I've taken on my 365 Project.

I have a long way to go and I'm learning so much already just in the six days!  I highly recommend taking the 15-30 minutes it takes to do this project and snap a picture each day to anyone who wants to learn more and find out how surprised they can be when they see their end results.

As always, thank you so much for looking and feel free to leave feedback, opinions (good or bad) and comments.  It's a great way to extend my learning quest further!

5a&5b/365 Moss & Tree

So I may completely be breaking the rules of this "Project 365" but I feel I would probably be breaking my own if I didn't post both of these today.  I had already chosen, after taking the few pictures I took today, which picture I was going to post.  I had sent it to my friend (check her blog out HERE, she makes beautiful handmade papers and takes pictures too!) because I was so excited about it.  Of course, as always the dedicated friend, she complimented it.  I just <3 her! :-)  Anyway, her support made me even more excited about the image.

The picture below is a moss covered tree (I believe a Pecan to be exact) and was taken on my HTC Evo 4G.  (Which doesn't get 4G service here because I live on the coast and we're slow in these parts with that kind of technology...BUT...the 8MP camera was quite a selling point, 4G or not.) ;-)  The settings will pretty much always be the same on my images shot with it, except the focal length.  I also tend to stick to lower ISO's so most of the times it will be 100 for the Evo and I can't change any other settings that I know of.  Though I never want to be considered a "Photoshop photographer", I did bump the saturation in this image because when I looked at the original (and also knowing that colors tend to pop a little more on overcast days) I wanted to exploit those that I saw deep in the moss and bark of this tree.  I believe it resulted in a very exciting image and I am very pleased with the end result.

After I showed my friend the picture above, another friend/co-worker who I think the world of and is following my 365 Project, came in and asked so excitedly what my picture of the day was.  I should have just said, "You have to wait and see and check my blog", but I guess I just couldn't resist his charm.  ;-)  LOL!  I showed him the silhouetted tree below and he said "ah, that's sexy. You should post that one".  I told him to wait and see the other one I had already decided on.  After I showed it to him he still thought I should post the silhouetted tree instead because he said it appeared to represent a woman's legs.  So, I can roll with that interpretation. :-)  I reallllly wanted to post the tree moss one and told him so.  He said I should then post his preferred image tomorrow.  But, I want it to be a photo a day....the day I take it!  It keeps me honest and keeps me shooting daily and learning more because of it.  My own rule for posting an image a day for the day it was taken is the rule I don't want to break.  So, not knowing the "real rules" of this 365 Project, I'm chancing breaking someone else's rule and not my own.  After considering both of my friends feedback and arguing with myself on what to do, I decided what the heck and am posting two.

Here is my image. I did make a slight tonal adjustment and bumped contrast and sharpness.  Otherwise, it's pretty much the way it was.  I don't know what my white balance was set to (yes, I can change my white balance in my phone but not my shutter speed...go figure) but I am quite pleased with the result of this image too.

Thank you to those of you who are "following" me (even if not in the sense of "blogger following") in my early days of my 365 Project.  I encourage you to comment and give me feedback because it is a great learning tool for me.  I love to hear different opinions and views and can take the good and bad in all of them.  I hope as time goes, you will share my journey with your friends and other lovers of the arts and they will come by and visit too.
Thanks so much for looking.

4/365 Sushi

I've never had sushi before and my best friend said she was bringing some for us to try.  She showed me what was in each one and I tried 3 different kinds.  There were a couple with fish eggs and one with I think crab eggs.  I just couldn't wrap my mind around that though my husband did try one.  He was spitting it out in the trash as soon as he did though.  I was laughing so hard at him.  He says he'll try anything and for the most part I will too.  But fish/crab eggs...?!?!....ugh! LOL!  Sushi is very pretty and colorful so I thought it would make a great candidate for my 365 project.

3/365 Pinto Beans

I had taken a handful of pinto beans out to photograph them with my macro lens when my husband was cooking some for work one day but I completely forgot about them.  Since it's a rainy and yucky cold day out, I figured why not now?  So...here are my beans.  Shot with my Nikkor 60mm F2.8 Micro lens.  The settings were ISO 320 (don't know what I was shooting before to have had this ISO setting...normally I use 100), 1/500 shutter speed, F4.0 aperture. White balance was set to flash.  Post processing was just basic levels and curves adjustments and minor sharpening.

2/365 Windsheild Raindrops

I was sitting in my car waiting on my friend to get here & the rain drops looked really cool on the windshield. I thought it would make a really neat picture for my 2nd of 365 pictures. I tried a couple different versions & white balances to see what I'd get and this one is my favorite. Since this was taken with my HTC EVO, I don't have any shutter speed or aperture control unfortunately...or at least, I haven't found those options yet.  The focal length for this was 4.9mm and the ISO is set to 100.  I post processed in Photoshop by just adjusting the curves on it a bit to bump the contrast and smart sharpened about 25%.  Otherwise, this is pretty much as it was when I shot it.

Thanks for looking and I'll post my third of 365 pictures tomorrow.

1/365 B&W Gel Pen

So I attempted to start this "365 Project" months ago & got all of 3 days into it.  I took pictures many days in a row but just couldn't ever find the time to post them.  Now that I have an Android phone & there's an Android app, I'm going to try to start this thing all over again.

My phone will likely be the primary source of my photos because it is the most convenient for me in my crazy busy life.  Since it's pretty much with me 90% of the time (everyone needs 10% privacy, right?) and because it has an 8mp camera in it (2mps less than my D200) I figure it'll be perfect to use.  I also have a great little Photoshop App that I absolutely love so I can do some basic or modern/contemporary post processing if I feel a need for it which may be pretty often.

Now, down to business.  I'm at work so guess what?  My first picture is a pen!  How fun and creative huh?  Lol!  I ran it through my little Photoshop app because it truly was quite boring.  I converted to black & white, increased the exposure to blow out the over light reflection in the center of the picture, bumped up the contrast and cropped it down a little. Much better than the original I think.
